How can we help you?

Why was my Fast Forward request denied?

When you pay-by-refund, you may apply for Fast Forward if you meet the following requirements.

  • Expecting a federal tax refund up to $10,000
  • Paying for tax preparation with a participating pay-by-refund program from sbtpg
  • Receiving the federal tax refund via direct deposit

If these requirements are met, your request for Fast Forward may be denied for the following reasons.

  • Federal refund is greater than $10,000
  • You are only receiving a state tax refund
  • Your bank does not support RTP (real time payments) - participating banks can be found here
  • Your bank account is closed
  • Your bank rejected the Fast Forward payment
  • sbtpg did not receive sufficient notice of pending direct deposit*

* Fast Forward applications are only approved when we have advance notice of a pending direct deposit and can provide your federal refund 3+ days early.

Fast Forward fee waived for denied requests

If your Fast Forward request is denied, you will be reimbursed the $25 Fast Forward fee.

Fast Forward by sbtpg is provided by Green Dot Bank. Terms and fees apply. To be eligible for Fast Forward, you must have a Refund Transfer for a federal tax refund that is no more than $10,000 and have selected direct deposit. Availability may vary based on your bank participating in Real-Time Payments, IRS pre-notification of pending refund deposit, and availability of funds. $25.00 fee is not charged if you are ineligible. If a new Green Dot card is selected in the tax office, you will receive the federal refund up to five days early without being charged the $25.00 fee. Please check with your tax professional for availability.
